I spotted lots
of deer, elk, hawks, rabbits, squirrels, and a variety of birds, but not a
single person or vehicle other than some road maintenance equipment left behind
by weekday work crews.
The road comes
out oa the north end of the primitive area at Wall Lake where the w-wheel drive
restriction ends and county maintenance begins.
Beaver head is the name selected for the Ranger station near Wall
Lake. From that point, I selected more
dirt road heading north and completed nearly 200 miles of backroads coming out
in Thoreau New Mexico. The entire route
was scenic, peaceful, and relaxing. Oh
yeah … and dusty.
