PAGE 3 OF THE JULY 1995 ISSUE OF PASS PATROL CAMPFIRE TALES
Keep in mind, the stories here were written in 1995.  A lot has changed.

This issue includes

White Rim Trail
Moab Rim Trail

ANOTHER OF THE MANY ADVENTURES OF PASS PATROL

The first took us to the banks of the Colorado River in Lathrop Canyon.  It was here, in 1986, that the idea for Pass Patrol was born.  Every time I visit that beautiful canyon, I recall bits and pieces of the conversation that filled the air around a flickering campfire on that cool March evening.  But most of all, I remember when one person looked at me and said, “You aughta write a book.”  Since then, I have written nine books, produced three videos, and formed a 4x4 travel club that schedules 100 days of trips each year throughout Colorado and Utah.

The second side trip took us to White Crack Camp which is the closest point the White Rim Trail gets to the confluence of the Colorado River and the Green River.  Although an experienced backpacker could make the journey from White Crack to the confluence, Pass Patrol gets there from the other side of the river by using a 4x4 road called Elephant Hill.

The third side trip was a one hour hike into Queen Anne Bottom.  At one time a ferry carried passengers and cattle across the Green River to Anderson Bottom on the west side of the Green River.
