1985 CAMPFIRE TALES ISSUES

I moved to Colorado in September of 1984.  My first 4wheeling trip to the mountains was in August of 1985.  That trip marked the founding of Pass Patrol.  During the first few trips, the group was called the IT Patrol.  IT was the abbreviation for Intelogic Trace.  In the beginning, all the members were employed by that same company.  I eventually decided to take the club public and changed the name to Pass Patrol.  The name for Campfire Tales was changed back and forth several times but nothing fit better than calling it the way it was used.  The tales grew and changed each time they were told around a campfire.  Since the written form was the version as it was first told, Campfire Tales became the most popular.  This web site is an attempt to recover and publish those original tales.  Many of them have been lost so we appreciate your help in recovering them.

In the early years, Campfire Tales was printed on a typewriter and copies were mailed to subscribers.  Photos were not included. In some stories included here, I have added photos for effect.  I first began using photos by putting them on a copier.  In those days, copiers did a lousy job with photos so the quality was really bad.  If you have any issues that are not included here, we would appreciate copies so we can add them to these archives.  Your name will be listed as a contributor.
